location to spark imagination.

week 2

This week i have found myself pushing the boundaries of what i believed was possible to achieve in a week. Going from pervious week "pressure builds" to this week being a real triumph as i successfully start ticking those important boxes.

The pressure over the oncoming deadlines that seem to be looming over my subconscious mind 24/7 at the moment has kicked started my drive and i haven't stopped!

My highlight of the week has to be my 6-am start on friday morning. waking up to a frozen street,  i made my way down to the beach where i witnessed the sun rising over the sea. not to get all dramatic on you all, but there is something very fore-filling about watching the sun rise. it definitely injects you with a new boost of passion for those things you love. i recommend you try it.

Week 1 - The Pressure Builds.

I am now heading into the last few weeks of the term and non surprisingly rushing to get all my shoots shot on time. following on from last week's slow and unproductive time in the studio i made sure I cracked on and got a lot done this week. I planned to achieve both high and low key shoots to a high enough standard to use as my finals.

Low key shoot- shot in the studio at uni.

The model i used is Natasha Hubah. a model/singer-songwriter and soon to be actress from london.

I shot this on the hasselblad 501 with
phase one digi back then shot
It on film (still yet to be developed) whoops!

High key shoot- though i had shot a high key shoot earlier on in the week, which i believe, contains my final image. I did these images for Natasha Portfolio and loved the outcome.

She is a great model to use. Not only is she beautiful but she also knows what she is doing in front of the camera and takes direction really well.
It was a real pleasure to work with her.

Week 0 - "The Beginning"

The first week of this blogging thing, not to sure what im doing, but i will make a real effort to make it enjoyable to read, so here it goes.

Im Jack Doncaster - 21 and currently studying Commercial photography at the Arts university College Bournemouth. ( AUCB ) formally known as the Arts Institute Bournemouth (AIB) why the change i have no idea.

So this blog, i was told to create and submit a weekly blog to let you all know what im doing within the magical world of photography. The shoots im doing, techniques im working on (pre and post production) and where i pull my inspiration from.
pretty much everything i do.

Week 0

This week, Adrian and i have worked on a few shoots in the studio, playing around with lighting and the new cameras we are open to use.
This image of adrian was taken on a Hasselblad 501 with a phase one digital back. its only 6mp but the sensor is so big the image quality is amazing and great fun to use.

Cant wait to get my hands on the p30!!!

check out adrian rogers work on - Http://adrianr.net

The second shoot i did this week was a high key studio shoot. shot on the Hasselblad 503 with digi back (tethered is such a great way to shot!)
The model i used was Adrian's girlfriend Lucie Hollins (lcf photography student)she can be found in the current "Grazia" mag.

I have worked on this image in post production, i never done airbrushing before but found a great tutorial on youtube, as you can see, i still have a lot to perfect my skills!
